Just one of several thousand end-time voices.
With the corrupted message of the Gospel being delivered by the prosperity preachers, several Scripture verses stand out as ones being perverted for the exploitation of the sheep, the fold in who these wolves in sheep’s clothing are leading into disaster.
One particular Scripture verse which includes the several surrounding it is:
For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. – Mat 13:12 KJV
This Scripture has little if anything to do with material possessions or personal wealth. It has everything to do with having a love for the truth. The ‘hath’ is just exactly that—it is the ‘truth’ or the respecting of the truth.
This Scripture verse could be translated or understood simply as: “Those that love the truth, more truth will be revealed and those who do not, what truth they have will be taken away.”
If we look at the surrounding verses, it is very clear that Jesus is talking about seeing and hearing the truth. Let’s look at Matthew 13:11, the preceding verse.
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. – Mat 13:11 KJV
Jesus says, “…Because it is given unto you to know…” Who is the ‘you?’ It’s those who have a love for the truth. But Jesus also says, “…but to them it is not given.” Who is the ‘them?’ It is those that do not have a love for the truth.
Then we look at the following verse which is Matthew 13:13.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. – Mat 13:13 KJV
Here again, Jesus says, “because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not,…” Why do ‘they’ not see and not hear. Very simply put – because they really don’t want to. They really don’t ‘care’ to hear the truth because it doesn’t set so well with them.
The verses following talk about the corrupt heart of these “that love not the truth.” I encourage you to continue reading these verses and find the blessing God has given to you as one who “loves the truth.” That you have a blessing greater than even many prophets and righteous men of old.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. – Mat 13:14-17 KJV
If you have read the previous Scriptures and completed your own brief study to see and understand, let me share in closing another angle or dimension of this same paradox – that being, “them that see will see more; and them that don’t will become blind.”
Who is Jesus referring favorably to in the following verse, Matthew 11:25?
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. – Mat 11:25 KJV
You can plainly see that Jesus is thanking the Father for revealing His truth to the meek and humble, the simple, even the foolish. But to the proud who are wise in their own eyes, the truth is hidden.
Did you know that you are a fulfillment of prophecy, that your understanding of these things was prophesied and foretold by David in the Psalms? Yes indeed! You are them of whom David said, and I paraphrase, “Out of the mouth of the simple will flow the Living Water of truth, that the enemy will stand in awe with their mouth agape.”
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. – Psa 8:2 KJV
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. – 2Sa 22:31 KJV
This is the perfect way of the Lord as prophesied by Samuel and David, that God would make the last, first, and the first, last. The simple, even the uneducated will see and the wise (proud) and learned—regretably—will not. Amen!
